Condition of three critical as devotees receive internal injuries
Tirumala: 12 devotees were injured, some of them seriously, when their mini van slipped into a gorge after dashing against a jeep on Tiruamla Ghats on Saturday. The accident took place between Tirumala and Sri Vari Paadaalu. Condition of three devotees is said to be critical.
Reports from Tirumala said that the mini van, carrying devotees from Ballari district in Karnataka, ran into a jeep coming in the opposite direction during their return journey from Sri Vari Paadaalu. When the driver tried to control the van, the breaks failed allowing the van to drift sideways and hit the parapet wall on the Ghats.
After hitting the parapet wall, the mini van crashed into a tree in the lows abutting the Ghats and stopped. All the injured were taken to Aswini Hospital.
While condition of three of the injured devotees is said to be critical, doctors said most of the devotees suffered internal injuries as the mini van was subjected to severe shuddering following the accident.
