Kakinada Corporation goes the TDP way

Kakinada : TDP won majority seats in Kakinada Corporation elections and its candidate is set to occupy Mayoral seat. Out of 48 divisions, the alliance of TDP and BJP won in 38 seats when the counting was over. While TDP won in 35 divisions, BJP won in 3 divisions. The leading opposition party YSRCP candidates won in 10 divisions.  

1,48,598 voters excerpted their franchise in the Corporation elections fought by 241 candidates. The port city witnessed a no-holds-barred fight between TDP and YSRCP. In the last few days prior to the election, YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy personally campaigned.

The victory of TDP in Kakinada Corporation elections came close on the heels of its victory in the by election of Nandyala where in TDP candidate Bhuma Brahmanada Reddy defeated YSRCP’s Silpa Mohan Reddy.  

Four corporators Sesha Kumari, Adduri Lakshmi, Sunkara Pavani and Sunkara Siva Prasanna are vying for the Mayoral post. However, CM Chandrababu Naidu will decide on the issue.
