Kakinada: A medical college professor committed suicide in Kakinada on Thursday. Prof APR Naidu, department of Ophthalmology, of Rangaraya Medical College was found hanging to ceiling fan in his house at Asram School in the city in the early hours. The tragedy came as a bolt from the blue to the family.

The exact reasons for his suicide are not yet known. But there are reports that Dr Naidu is not happy with his children’s behavior.  Recently, his son left for Goa with out informing him. After that he was depressed.  Dr Naidu is on the verge of retirement but his children are not yet settled in life. This is his main worry, according to police.

Family problems must have driven him to take the extreme step, police feel. Dr Nayudu’s colleagues said he is a very sensitive person. Before hanging self to the ceiling fan, he cut his arm with a blade. He left a suicide note saying that no one was responsible for his death.  His colleagues at the Government General Hospital commented that they have lost a very good doctor. “In recent times, he has become more sensitive to issues,” said one of his colleagues at the GGH.

The incident has shocked his colleagues and students at Rangaraya Medical College. The body has been sent for postmortem and further investigation is on.
