Suryapeta: 4 persons were killed and 14 others injured, some of them critically when an APSRTC bus dashed against a parked lorry at Moddula Cheruvu near Munagala of Suryapet district in Telangana in the wee hours of Sunday.
The bus, coming from Vijayawada to Hyderabad, tried to over take another RTC bus and in the process dashed against a parked lorry on the national highway. The tragedy occurred around 3 a.m , according to eye -witnesses.
As a result, the speeding bus rammed into the parked lorry with one half of it cutting and giving way. The driver of the bus and three passengers died on the spot. 14 other passengers were seriously injured. They were all rushed to hospitals in Kodada and Suryapet by the police and local people.
There were 36 passengers in the bus when the accident occurred. The bus was totally damaged. The RTC bus belonged to Avanigadda depot in Krishna district of AP.
Three of the killed were identified as Matangi Vara Prasad, 60, Rani 48 and the driver 47. .. Police are trying to establish the identity of others. Some of the injured were shifted to Hyderabad hospitals from Kodada and Suryapeta Hospitals as their condition was critical.
