Ramanjaneyulu’s was honour killing, say police

Malikipuram (EG District): The mystery surrounding the disappearance of Ramanjaneyulu , 29, of Gudavalli Palle Palem in East Godavari district was unraveled by the Police. The young man was killed by the family members of his lover. It was declared a honour killing.

Investigating police found that Ramanjaneyulu was strangled to death and buried in the sands of Golla Palem beach during the night of May 2. His decomposed body was exhumed today in the presence of revenue and police officials.

Police said that Ramanjaneyulu and the daughter of Kandula Vijayakumar of Golla Palem had been in love with each other for a long time. Her father had reportedly warned him twice asking him to forget his love. But the lovers were in touch with each other despite the warning.

Ramanjaneyulu disappeared on May 2 and his father Nukala Rao lodged a police complaint on the very next day on his son’s disappearance. He also expressed his suspicion on the role of Vijayakumar and his family members in his son’s disappearance. Police kept a watch on the movements of Vijayakumar and his relative Matta Naga Babu and arrested them at Rajolu bus stand Tuesday morning. In the interrogation, the duo spilled the beans.

Vijayakumar revealed in interrogation that he had killed Ramanjaneyulu by strangulating him and then buried him in the sands of Golla Palem beach. He said he lured him to the sands in the name of a party and took him to the sands on his two-wheeler.  They said they had killed Ramanjaneyulu as he denigrated their family honour by falling in love with  his daughter.

Police have handed over the body to the family after autopsy.  The killers were sent on judicial remand.
