Washington: For the US people, these are tragic moments. Even before the Trump Administration had taken stock of the destruction caused by the Harvey Hurricane in southeastern Texas few days ago, another storm called Irma, that has been formed in the Atlantic Ocean, is giving sleepless nights to people and officials.

The category 5 hurricane Irma, on a destructive path in Caribbean Islands in the last few hours, is racing fast towards Florida. The National Hurricane Weather Center of the US has issued storm surge warning for South Florida and Florida Keys.

The Florida is put on high alert by the officials who have ordered evacuation of people from all areas facing threat in the state. Emergency has been declared in Carolina states and Georgia too. Thousands of Indians are living in Florida and Telugus also constitute a good majority of them.

Blowing gusty and destructive winds with a speed of 175 miles per hour, the hurricane caused destruction in Northern Leeward Islands, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. With 95 per cent of houses either being blown away or having collapsed, most of the people in these residents are without shelter.

Besides leaving a horrific trail of property destruction in St Martin and St Barts already, it has killed 10 persons during its decimation path that included the small island of Barbuda.

Irma is now heading towards Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba and the Bahamas and all these islands are now in the immediate grip of the hurricane. Its next target is Florida state of the US. According to present estimates, it is likely to hit Florida by tomorrow.

In the devastation caused by Harvey Hurricane in Texas, thousands of people have been displaced due to floods and 60 people lost their lives.
